Brandan Lucas named Extraordinarily Exceptional Educator by NCDPI.

The Exceptional Children’s Division at NC Department Public Instruction has recognized NELA student, Brandan Lucas for his outstanding contribution and work with students with disabilities in Nash County. Brandon was named one of several Extraordinarily Exceptional Educators across North Carolina for the 2020-21 academic year. Jayme Whitehead (Red/Wake 2025) is completing her principal residency at the Wake Young Women’s Leadership Academy, where Brooke Little (Durham/Wake 2023) serves as AP.

Mariah Walker serves as principal and is Jayme’s principal mentor. We’re filled with excitement seeing current fellows learning alongside NELA graduates!
